Spiegel Online - Company and Editorial Staff

Company and Editorial Staff

Spiegel Online is run by Spiegel Online GmbH. Like manager-magazin.de and Quality Channel, this corporation is part of SPIEGELnet GmbH, which is a sister company of the publishing house. The editorial offices of Spiegel Online and Der Spiegel print magazine are separate operations, each with their own location, authors, and content, though a few articles continue to be shared in both media. Spiegel Online has a track record of profitability. Regular staff includes some eighty people in the Hamburg headquarters, complemented by freelancers, SPON's Berlin office, and bureaus in other German cities and abroad. The site also draws on input from a variety of news agencies, like AFP, AP, dpa and Reuters. Rüdiger Ditz has been serving as chief editor since 2008, first with co-chief Wolfgang Büchner, then as the sole person at the helm from 2009 to the present day (early 2013 at the time of writing).

Famous quotes containing the words company, editorial and/or staff:

Some fluctuating notions concerning repentance, virtue, honor, morality ... hovered around Lady Dellwyn’s thoughts but were too wavering to bring her to any fixed determination. She became a constant attendant from one public place to another, where she met with many mortifications. But yet even these were not quite so dreadful to her as to retire and be subjected to her own company alone.
    Sarah Fielding (1710–1768)

I have been in the editorial business going on fourteen years, and it is the first time I ever heard of a man’s having to know anything in order to edit a newspaper.
Mark Twain [Samuel Langhorne Clemens] (1835–1910)

In the far South the sun of autumn is passing
Like Walt Whitman walking along a ruddy shore.
He is singing and chanting the things that are part of him,
The worlds that were and will be, death and day.
Nothing is final, he chants. No man shall see the end.
His beard is of fire and his staff is a leaping flame.
    Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)
