South Station Tower is a proposed skyscraper intended for construction in Boston, Massachusetts. The tower by design would rise 621 feet (189 m), with 41 floors and consist of a hotel, condominium units, office space, and a parking structure. It would be built atop Boston's historic South Station complex, an example of "transit-oriented development." The property was developed by Hines Interests and TUDC, a subsidiary of Tufts University.
South Station Tower was planned to break ground in 2008, with completion scheduled to occur in 2010, but the project stalled and has not reached development. Approval has been obtained for a project totaling 2,190,000 square feet (203,000 m2).
Famous quotes containing the words south, station and/or tower:
“...I believe it is now the duty of the slaves of the South to rebuke their masters for their robbery, oppression and crime.... No station or character can destroy individual responsibility, in the matter of reproving sin.”
—Angelina Grimké (18051879)
“To act the part of a true friend requires more conscientious feeling than to fill with credit and complacency any other station or capacity in social life.”
—Sarah Ellis (18121872)
“What did it matter where you lay once you were dead? In a dirty sump or in a marble tower on top of a high hill? You were dead, you were sleeping the big sleep, you were not bothered by things like that. Oil and water were the same as wind and air to you.”
—Raymond Chandler (18881959)
