South San Francisco High School - Extra Curricular Activities

Extra Curricular Activities

For many years, students have had the opportunity to join many clubs and activities, such as the ASB . or Leadership, The Hermanos Club, Drama Club/Thespians Troupe, ASB or Leadership, Journalism (which produces the school newspaper, the Warrior), Chess Club, Mock Trial, California Scholarship Federation, and the GSA.

A tradition that is upheld at South San Francisco High School is with the football team. In the Fall, during the football season, students await an event called The Bell Game. The Bell Game is an annual tradition where South San Francisco High School plays against their rival, El Camino High School. Most of the student body at South City, as well as the rest of the community, attend the football game. The student governments from both schools set up decorations and help show school spirit at the game. The bands from both schools also compete to be the louder band in a friendly competition. In the end, the school that wins the football game wins the trophy, also known as "The Bell." The 2011 Bell Game was the 50th.

Famous quotes containing the words extra and/or activities:

Liking one person is an extra reason for liking another.
    —E.M. (Edward Morgan)

Both gossip and joking are intrinsically valuable activities. Both are essentially social activities that strengthen interpersonal bonds—we do not tell jokes and gossip to ourselves. As popular activities that evade social restrictions, they often refer to topics that are inaccessible to serious public discussion. Gossip and joking often appear together: when we gossip we usually tell jokes and when we are joking we often gossip as well.
Aaron Ben-Ze’Ev, Israeli philosopher. “The Vindication of Gossip,” Good Gossip, University Press of Kansas (1994)
