South Maitland Railway - Relocation For Hunter Expressway Construction

Relocation For Hunter Expressway Construction

A 900 metre long section of the line has been relocated, with a new bridge constructed to carry the railway line over the Hunter Expressway. The new section was built to mainline 1XC standards, with 60 kilogram per metre rails and concrete sleepers. The ends of the new section were adapted back to the existing lightweight rails. The owners of the line were given back the existing rails and servicable hardwood sleepers from the bypassed section of line.

Famous quotes containing the words hunter and/or construction:

    This be the verse you grave for me:
    Here he lies where he longed to be;
    Home is the sailor, home from the sea,
    And the hunter home from the hill.
    Robert Louis Stevenson (1850–1894)

    When the leaders choose to make themselves bidders at an auction of popularity, their talents, in the construction of the state, will be of no service. They will become flatterers instead of legislators; the instruments, not the guides, of the people.
    Edmund Burke (1729–1797)
