Somerset College of Arts and Technology - Genesis Project

The Genesis Project, which opened in 2006, is based at Somerset College of Arts and Technology, is a single story centre consisting of several pavilions built from environmentally friendly materials such as straw, timber, earth and clay.

The pavilions contain seminar rooms and lecture theatres with exhibition space promoting the very latest in sustainable technology, along with a construction area where visitors can see practical demonstrations of sustainable construction techniques.

Famous quotes containing the words genesis and/or project:

Power is, in nature, the essential measure of right. Nature suffers nothing to remain in her kingdoms which cannot help itself. The genesis and maturation of a planet, its poise and orbit, the bended tree recovering itself from the strong wind, the vital resources of every animal and vegetable, are demonstrations of the self-sufficing and therefore self-relying soul.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

... one of art photography’s most vigorous enterprises—[is] concentrating on victims, on the unfortunate—but without the compassionate purpose that such a project is expected to serve.
    Susan Sontag (b. 1933)
