Somebody Said A Prayer - Content

Content

The song is a mid-tempo detailing two people — a mother in the first verse, and a teen-ager in the second verse — both of whom are dealing with stress in their lives. The mother in the first verse "almost let her job, her kids, her mind, her life go up in smoke" and the teen-ager attempted suicide by taking a bottle of pills. Both characters, however, find their lives improved (the mother is now "laughin' and lovin' and content", and the teen-ager is now seen every week by the narrator). According to the chorus, the two characters' lives were improved because of prayer.

The song features backing from a piano and a string section.

Famous quotes containing the word content:

Nothing can or shall content my soul
Till I am evened with him, wife for wife,
Or failing so, yet that I put the Moor
At least into a jealousy so strong
    That judgment cannot cure.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

Any so-called material thing that you want is merely a symbol: you want it not for itself, but because it will content your spirit for the moment.
Mark Twain [Samuel Langhorne Clemens] (1835–1910)

To be content is to be happy.
    Chinese proverb.
