British Series
The first season was picked up in the UK by Janet Street Porter at the BBC where it ran for three more seasons.
The British series, while still focused on providing a showcase for bands, also featured other artists including comedians. It was broadcast on BBC2 at 6.00pm on Monday evenings and repeated in a late night slot on Sunday nights. It also aired on pan-European TV channel Super Channel and in other countries in Europe, such as Russia, Portugal, Denmark and Greece.
The theme tune for one series was "House Building," which was replaced by "Human Nature", both by Gary Clail.

Famous quotes containing the words british and/or series:
“Give a scientist a problem and he will probably provide a solution; historians and sociologists, by contrast, can offer only opinions. Ask a dozen chemists the composition of an organic compound such as methane, and within a short time all twelve will have come up with the same solution of CH4. Ask, however, a dozen economists or sociologists to provide policies to reduce unemployment or the level of crime and twelve widely differing opinions are likely to be offered.”
—Derek Gjertsen, British scientist, author. Science and Philosophy: Past and Present, ch. 3, Penguin (1989)
“Every day the fat woman dies a series of small deaths.”
—Shelley Bovey, U.S. author. Being Fat Is Not a Sin, ch. 1 (1989)
