Skycity Entertainment Group is a New Zealand corporation whose core business is owning and operating casinos in Australasia. It is the smallest of four major players operating in the market. The company's shares are traded on both the Australian and New Zealand Stock Exchanges, and 2007 net profits are expected to be around NZ$100 million, with the 2006 December half year having operating revenues of NZ$ 419.2 million. The present CEO of Skycity is Nigel Morrison.
The group came into existence in 1996 when the company was established as the owner of the Skycity Auckland complex. In 1998 it took over the operations from the previous gaming operator.
Skycity casinos often depend to a large degree on several hundred high stakes gamblers, often from East Asia, who may gamble hundreds of thousands of dollars in one visit to a casino.

“[The Republicans] offer ... a detailed agenda for national renewal.... [On] reducing illegitimacy ... the state will use ... funds for programs to reduce out-of-wedlock pregnancies, to promote adoption, to establish and operate childrens group homes, to establish and operate residential group homes for unwed mothers, or for any purpose the state deems appropriate. None of the taxpayer funds may be used for abortion services or abortion counseling.”
