Future
The channel's contract to broadcast was set to expire on 30 June 2007; however Ofcom confirmed that all RSL licences would be extended until the 2012 digital switchover but gave no undertaking that a digital licence would be granted. Milestone concluded that the lack of digital licences rendered the stations non-viable and all channels had ceased broadcasting by April 2009, including the original Oxford channel.
In March 2011 an online television channel was launched covering the County of Oxfordshire. Oxbox which can be found at http://www.oxbox.tv produce broadcast quality films highlighting aspects of life in Oxfordshire, presented on a bespoke website with full integration with social media. Though set up as a community interest company (C.I.C), Oxbox operated on a zero budget for the first year of their existence. Oxbox have indicated their interest in re-launching a TV channel for Oxfordshire and have close links with JACKfm Oxford who now occupy the former studios of Six TV on Woodstock Road in Oxford.

Famous quotes containing the word future:
“Give me insight into today and you may have the antique and future worlds.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“We live in an age when to be young and to be indifferent can be no longer synonymous. We must prepare for the coming hour. The claims of the Future are represented by suffering millions; and the Youth of a Nation are the trustees of Posterity.”
—Benjamin Disraeli (18041881)
“What a prodigious growth this English race, especially the American branch of it, is having! How soon will it subdue and occupy all the wild parts of this continent and of the islands adjacent. No prophecy, however seemingly extravagant, as to future achievements in this way [is] likely to equal the reality.”
—Rutherford Birchard Hayes (18221893)
