The Sint Maarten national football team is the football team of Sint Maarten, the Dutch half of the Saint Martin island which was part of the former Netherlands Antilles (not to be confused with the team of the French half, the Saint-Martin national football team) and is controlled by the Sint Maarten Soccer Association. Sint Maarten is not a member of FIFA, and is therefore not eligible to enter the World Cup, but they do compete in CONCACAF competitions, where it is one of the weakest teams.
The Dutch part of the island of St. Martin has been completely absent from all CONCACAF tournaments for some time, while Saint-Martin, the French half of the island, is becoming more active. It seems to be a coincidence that since Saint-Martin began participating in CONCACAF tournaments, Sint Maarten have stopped playing. Only one match has been played since the year 2000 - a 2-2 draw at home to Sint Eustatius on 20 August 2004.

“In my public statements I have earnestly urged that there rested upon government many responsibilities which affect the moral and spiritual welfare of our people. The participation of women in elections has produced a keener realization of the importance of these questions and has contributed to higher national ideals. Moreover, it is through them that our national ideals are ingrained in our children.”

“I also heard the whooping of the ice in the pond, my great bed-fellow in that part of Concord, as if it were restless in its bed and would fain turn over, were troubled with flatulency and bad dreams; or I was waked by the cracking of the ground by the frost, as if some one had driven a team against my door, and in the morning would find a crack in the earth a quarter of a mile long and a third of an inch wide.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
