Refurbishment
After all of the Kawasaki Heavy Industries C151 cars have been refurbished by early 2009, SMRT has announced that the Siemens C651 trains are due for refurbishment by end 2013.
These trains might be the last "unpainted" train (with red adhesive tapes painted on it).
SMRT is expected to sign a contract with a contractor to undertake the project to refurbish the C651 trains. The C651 trains are currently the only trains in Singapore's MRT system without a dedicated wheelchair space. However once they have been refurbished, they are expected to have a dedicated wheelchair space.
