Show Control Systems
Generally, there are two kinds of show control systems, PC based and embedded systems. Manufacturers of embedded show control systems use their own micro controller designs. They have to develop the software and hardware. PC based show control systems use standard PC's, enhanced by standard interfaces (RS232/422 ports, Ethernet, USB etc...).
System | Pros | Cons |
---|---|---|
embedded | small devices with low power consumption. Usually robust, disk less systems. | expandable only with controllers from the same manufacturer. More expensive than PC based solutions. |
PC based | cheap and manufacturer independent hardware platform, available everywhere in the world. Expandable with any standard PC interface from any manufacturer. | Most PC based show control software runs on Windows only. |

Famous quotes containing the words show, control and/or systems:
“O power of fantasy that steals our minds from things outside, to leave us unaware, although a thousand trumpets may blow loudwhat stirs you if the senses show you nothing? Light stirs you, formed in Heaven, by itself, or by His will Who sends it down to us.”
—Dante Alighieri (12651321)
“If someone does something we disapprove of, we regard him as bad if we believe we can deter him from persisting in his conduct, but we regard him as mad if we believe we cannot. In either case, the crucial issue is our control of the other: the more we lose control over him, and the more he assumes control over himself, the more, in case of conflict, we are likely to consider him mad rather than just bad.”
—Thomas Szasz (b. 1920)
“We have done scant justice to the reasonableness of cannibalism. There are in fact so many and such excellent motives possible to it that mankind has never been able to fit all of them into one universal scheme, and has accordingly contrived various diverse and contradictory systems the better to display its virtues.”
—Ruth Benedict (18871948)
