Shining Series Continuity
See entries on Shining Force Gaiden and Shining Force Gaiden II for details on how Books 1 and 2 fit into the continuity.
Book 3 takes place just a few months after Shining Force Gaiden II and is a direct sequel, including all the playable characters from Shining Force Gaiden I and II (most of whom are still playable characters), as well as Queen Anri, who was also in Shining Force I. In the first Gaiden, Prince Nick killed the king of Cypress, his uncle Edmond; in Book 3 of Shining Force CD, he officially inherits the crown and becomes king.
Book 4 is another sequel to the Game Gear games, albeit a very brief one, in which 13 of the playable characters again make return appearances.

Her great shining shines through me”
—Denise Levertov (b. 1923)
“Rosalynn said, Jimmy, if we could only get Prime Minister Begin and President Sadat up here on this mountain for a few days, I believe they might consider how they could prevent another war between their countries. —Jimmy Carter (James Earl Carter, Jr.)
“Only the family, societys smallest unit, can change and yet maintain enough continuity to rear children who will not be strangers in a strange land, who will be rooted firmly enough to grow and adapt.”
