The major production area lies on both sides of the Yellow River Mouth.

The field was discovered in 1961 and its development began in 1964. It has accumulated proven oil of reserves of 4.63 billion tons.

Famous quotes containing the words oil and/or field:

I bade, because the wick and oil are spent
And frozen are the channels of the blood....
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)

You cannot go into any field or wood, but it will seem as if every stone had been turned, and the bark on every tree ripped up. But, after all, it is much easier to discover than to see when the cover is off. It has been well said that “the attitude of inspection is prone.” Wisdom does not inspect, but behold.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
