Sharryn Jackson - 2007 Federal Election

2007 Federal Election

Jackson was a successful candidate at the 2007 federal election, regaining her former seat of Hasluck.

Jackson was probably aided in her campaign by voter discontent relating to a Government decision to allow the construction of a brick works in the electorate, against the wishes of the sitting member, Stuart Henry.

Mirroring an election promise made by John Howard when he was visiting the electorate the previous week, Jackson announced that Labor would undertake major roads funding in Hasluck, including the construction of a grade-separated interchange at Great Eastern Highway and Roe Highway, to cost $48 million. This promise remained unfulfilled by the 2010 election.

Famous quotes containing the words federal and/or election:

The proposed Constitution ... is, in strictness, neither a national nor a federal constitution; but a composition of both.
    James Madison (1751–1836)

[If not re-elected in 1864] then it will be my duty to so co-operate with the President elect, as to save the Union between the election and the inauguration; as he will have secured his election on such ground that he can not possibly save it afterwards.
    Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865)
