Sharpstown Middle School opened as a predominantly White middle school. As of 2006, Sharpstown Middle School is a majority Hispanic school. During the 2005–2006 school year, Sharpstown had an enrollment of 1,264 students.
During the 2004–2005 school year, Sharpstown Middle School was 70% Hispanic, 6% Asian, 24% Black, and 1% White. More than 90% of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch.
