Early Life

Born in Mumbai, India. He was initiated into the rich music of the Gharana by his illustrious father and Guru Ustad Aziz Khan, a famous musician and a noted composer and the son of the legendary Sitar and Surbahar virtuoso Ustad Wahid Khansahab. As is the custom, Ustad Aziz Khan first initiated his son into vocal music and tabla before training him on the Sitar over many years with all the intensity and rigor that has made this Gharana famous. Famous quotes containing the words early and/or life:

[In early adolescence] she becomes acutely aware of herself as a being perceived by others, judged by others, though she herself is the harshest judge, quick to list her physical flaws, quick to undervalue and under-rate herself not only in terms of physical appearance but across a wide range of talents, capacities and even social status, whereas boys of the same age will cite their abilities, their talents and their social status pretty accurately.
    Terri Apter (20th century)

I began reviewing my life in relation to its objectives. I saw no objects, I saw only states.
    Margaret Anderson (1886–1973)
