Famous quotes containing the words shadows and, shadows and/or fog:

And long shall timorous fancy see
The painted chief, and pointed spear,
And Reason’s self shall bow the knee
    To shadows and delusions here.
    Philip Freneau (1752–1832)

I’m a scientist also, Dr. Holden. I know the value of the cold light of reason. But I also know the deep shadows that light can cast. The shadows that can blind men to truth.
    Charles Bennett (b. 1899)

Even as fog continues to lie in the valleys, so does ancient sin cling to the low places, the depressions in the world consciousness.
