Display Pattern Tables

The tables below show alternative seven-segment display patterns for the Hindu-Arabic numerals, the 26 letters of the English language part of the Latin alphabet, and the Greek alphabet. Although the designs for digits are now mostly universal, there is no conventional set for all letters, i.e. ad-hoc solutions prevail, some using two consecutive segment arrays for a single symbol (see 'K', 'M', 'N', 'T', 'V', 'W', 'X') and most employing a unicase design. Hence the patterns shown have been used to various degrees, some are virtually unused. Note that letters are usually left-aligned (chiefly 'uppercase i' but not 'lowercase L' because have down segment on), while the digit one '1' is right-aligned. Sometimes the most intuitive shape may not be used because it was ambiguous with a different character.

Famous quotes containing the words display, pattern and/or tables:

    If the dignity as well as the prestige and influence of the United States are not to be wholly sacrificed, we must protect those who, in foreign ports, display the flag or wear the colors of this Government against insult, brutality, and death, inflicted in resentment of the acts of their Government, and not for any fault of their own.
    Benjamin Harrison (1833–1901)

    I am the very pattern of a modern Major-Gineral,
    I’ve information vegetable, animal, and mineral;
    I know the kings of England, and I quote the fights historical,
    From Marathon to Waterloo, in order categorical;
    Sir William Schwenck Gilbert (1836–1911)

    Eddie Felson: Church of the Good Hustler.
    Charlie: Looks more like a morgue to me. Those tables are the slabs they lay the stiffs on.
    Eddie Felson: I’ll be alive when I get out, Charlie.
    Sydney Carroll, U.S. screenwriter, and Robert Rossen. Eddie Felson (Paul Newman)
