Sergeants 3 - "The Lost Sinatra Film"

"The Lost Sinatra Film"

Seldom seen after its initial run in cinemas, never granted a release on home video, it seemed as though only a major event could bring Sergeants 3 to DVD. A DVD was finally released on May 13, 2008, both as a single disc and as part of a new Rat Pack box set, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Frank Sinatra's death. The film later became available on the single DVD containing three films that accompanied the (European) Spanish weekly newsmagazine "El Tiempo" that had a ca. March 15th 2013 date . Some Spanish street news kiosks retain older versions of that magazine with the DVD for several months after the initial sale (at the original price).

Famous quotes containing the words lost, sinatra and/or film:

The newspaper reader says: this party is destroying itself through such mistakes. My higher politics says: a party that makes such mistakes is finished—it has lost its instinctive sureness.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)

And now the end is near
And so I face the final curtain,
I’ll state my case of which I’m certain.
    I’ve lived a life that’s full, I traveled each and ev’ry highway,
And more, much more than this. I did it my way.
    —Frank Sinatra (b. 1915)

Television does not dominate or insist, as movies do. It is not sensational, but taken for granted. Insistence would destroy it, for its message is so dire that it relies on being the background drone that counters silence. For most of us, it is something turned on and off as we would the light. It is a service, not a luxury or a thing of choice.
David Thomson, U.S. film historian. America in the Dark: The Impact of Hollywood Films on American Culture, ch. 8, William Morrow (1977)
