Early Life
Senya Fleshin was born in Kiev on 19 December 1894. When he was sixteen his family emigrated to the United States and settled in New York. He worked for Mother Earth, an anarchist journal published by Emma Goldman. He participated in the various anarchist causes of the day, including support of labor strikes and opposition to U.S. entry into World War I as a member of the Anti-Military League.
