Seminole County Sheriff's Office (Florida) - Organization

Organization

The Sheriff’s Office is organized into five major departments: the Department of Law Enforcement, the Department of Youth Services, the Department of Support Services, the Department of Administrative Services and the Department of Corrections.

The Office of the Sheriff provides the overall leadership, strategic direction and management for the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office. It includes the Sheriff, Undersheriff, Chief and Chief Deputy. The Undersheriff assists with the day to day administration of the Sheriff’s Office and serves as acting Sheriff in the Sheriff’s absence.

The Chief oversees the City County Investigative Bureau (CCIB).

CCIB’s mission is to identify, arrest, and vigorously prosecute drug traffickers, their couriers and members of their organizations engaged in the illegal transportation and distribution of drugs. CCIB is a full-time, multi-agency task force composed of agents from SCSO, all seven police departments within Seminole County, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Amtrak/Auto Train.

The Chief Deputy reports directly to the Sheriff and is responsible for the day to day activities of the five departments and the Public Affairs Division.

Public Affairs Division spearheads the agency’s external communications and public outreach. Public Information Officers (PIOs) assigned to the Division serve as spokespersons for the sheriff and represent the agency to the media and the public.

Famous quotes containing the word organization:

To fight oppression, and to work as best we can for a sane organization of society, we do not have to abandon the state of mind of freedom. If we do that we are letting the same thuggery in by the back door that we are fighting off in front of the house.
    John Dos Passos (1896–1970)

I will never accept that I got a free ride. It wasn’t free at all. My ancestors were brought here against their will. They were made to work and help build the country. I worked in the cotton fields from the age of seven. I worked in the laundry for twenty- three years. I worked for the national organization for nine years. I just retired from city government after twelve-and-a- half years.
    Johnnie Tillmon (b. 1926)

Democracy means the organization of society for the benefit and at the expense of everybody indiscriminately and not for the benefit of a privileged class.
    George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950)
