Famous quotes containing the words the world, order and/or world:

One of the last of the philosophers,—Connecticut gave him to the world,—he peddled first her wares, afterwards, as he declares, his brains. These he peddles still, prompting God and disgracing man, bearing for fruit his brain only, like the nut its kernel.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

In order to be somebody you have to hold even your shadow in high regard.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)

Few of us, as we run the bath water or spread the peanut butter on the bread, proclaim proudly, “I’m making my contribution to the future of the planet.” But with the exception of global hunger, few jobs in the world of paychecks and promotions compare in significance to the job of parent.
    Joyce Maynard (20th century)
