Plot
The game is set in 1930, at the beginning of the Great Depression in the small town of Titusville, Pennsylvania. Emily Crandall, a girl Nancy only knows through her friend, Helen Corning, asks Nancy to come to Lilac Inn to see her. Her mother died a month ago, leaving her to run the inn with only the help of a guardian, Jane Willoughby. Famous quotes containing the word plot:
“Those blessed structures, plot and rhyme
why are they no help to me now
I want to make
something imagined, not recalled?”
—Robert Lowell (19171977)
“We have defined a story as a narrative of events arranged in their time-sequence. A plot is also a narrative of events, the emphasis falling on causality. The king died and then the queen died is a story. The king died, and then the queen died of grief is a plot. The time sequence is preserved, but the sense of causality overshadows it.”
—E.M. (Edward Morgan)
“The plot was most interesting. It belonged to no particular age, people, or country, and was perhaps the more delightful on that account, as nobodys previous information could afford the remotest glimmering of what would ever come of it.”
—Charles Dickens (18121870)
