This location is on part of the grounds of a Georgian farm house and has its own lake, river and landscaped gardens. The festival was launched by Fred Fellowes in 2004 as an alternative to the established mainstream music festivals. Famous quotes containing the words secret, garden and/or party:

The great secret of succeeding in conversation is to admire little, to hear much; always to distrust our own reason, and sometimes that of our friends; never to pretend to wit, but to make that of others appear as much as possibly we can; to hearken to what is said and to answer to the purpose.
    Benjamin Franklin (1706–1790)

    Take all the garden spills,
    inveterate,
    prodigal spender
    just as summer goes.
    Hilda Doolittle (1886–1961)

Good government cannot be found on the bargain-counter. We have seen samples of bargain-counter government in the past when low tax rates were secured by increasing the bonded debt for current expenses or refusing to keep our institutions up to the standard in repairs, extensions, equipment, and accommodations. I refuse, and the Republican Party refuses, to endorse that method of sham and shoddy economy.
    Calvin Coolidge (1872–1933)
