Famous quotes containing the words secret, files and/or scandal:

    You know there are no secrets in America. It’s quite different in England, where people think of a secret as a shared relation between two people.
    —W.H. (Wystan Hugh)

    But some who this blithe mood present,
    As on in lightsome files they fare,
    Shall die experienced ere three days be spent—
    Perish, enlightened by the vollied glare;
    Or shame survive, and, like to adamant,
    Thy after shock, Manassas, share.
    Herman Melville (1819–1891)

    Phyllis McGinley (1905–1978)
