Mascot
The current official Rider mascot is Gainer the Gopher, who made his first appearance in 1977. "Gainer" is an anagram of Regina and the gopher, or more properly, Richardson's Ground Squirrel (not a Gopher) is a common animal on the Canadian Prairies.
