Accident and Suspension
Five people were killed and at least 27 injured when a tram derailed in late August 2011. All service has been indefinitely suspended since the accident. Service was still suspended in early 2013, but 14 new two-axle trams have ordered for the line from a Brazilian manufacturer named T'Trans (based in Três Rios), and delivery is projected to begin in November 2014.

Famous quotes containing the words accident and/or suspension:
“A work is never completed except by some accident such as weariness, satisfaction, the need to deliver, or death: for, in relation to who or what is making it, it can only be one stage in a series of inner transformations.”
—Paul Valéry (18711945)
“If the oarsmen of a fast-moving ship suddenly cease to row, the suspension of the driving force of the oars doesnt prevent the vessel from continuing to move on its course. And with a speech it is much the same. After he has finished reciting the document, the speaker will still be able to maintain the same tone without a break, borrowing its momentum and impulse from the passage he has just read out.”
—Marcus Tullius Cicero (10643 B.C)
