Train Frequencies
Peak frequencies are every 7-8 minutes in the morning and afternoon peaks. Off-peak trains run every 15 minutes between 9am-3pm and 6.30pm-9pm and every 10 minutes between 3-5pm. After 9pm and all day on weekends, trains run every 20 minutes up until last service. This does not include Sunday mornings when trains run every 40 minutes until 9.30am. There is an express train that departs at 5.42pm running express between Elsternwick to South Yarra.
The last train to depart is at 11.32pm on weekdays and 11:29pm on weekends, one of the few train lines to not have late night trains going towards the city, despite two trains required to return to the city for operational requirements after the last service to Flinders Street.

Famous quotes containing the word train:
“Perfect present has no existence in our consciousness. As I said years ago in Erewhon, it lives but upon the sufferance of past and future. We are like men standing on a narrow footbridge over a railway. We can watch the future hurrying like an express train towards us, and then hurrying into the past, but in the narrow strip of present we cannot see it. Strange that that which is the most essential to our consciousness should be exactly that of which we are least definitely conscious.”
—Samuel Butler (18351902)
