Sand Island

A sand island is an island that is largely or completely made of sand. The largest sand island in the world is Fraser Island. Other examples of large sand islands are Moreton and North Stradbroke Islands which lie south of Fraser Island off the east coast of Australia.

Famous quotes containing the words sand and/or island:

I look back at it amid the rain
For the very last time; for my sand is sinking,
And I shall traverse old love’s domain
    Never again.
    Thomas Hardy (1840–1928)

In all things I would have the island of a man inviolate. Let us sit apart as the gods, talking from peak to peak all round Olympus. No degree of affection need invade this religion.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
