San Jose State Spartans Football

The San Jose State Spartans represent San Jose State University and the Silicon Valley in NCAA Division I FBS college football. The Spartans play all home games in Spartan Stadium, which offers a seating capacity of over 30,000. The current head coach is Ron Caragher, who took over the position at the close of the 2012 season after former head coach Mike McIntyre accepted the head coaching job at the University of Colorado in Boulder, CO.

In Mike MacIntyre's third season as head coach, the 2012 San Jose State Spartans football team finished the season with a win over Bowling Green in the 2012 Military Bowl en route to an 11-2 season record and ranked 24th in the BCS rankings.

In 2013, SJSU will leave the Western Athletic Conference, the Spartans' conference home of 17 years, to begin competing in the Mountain West Conference.

Famous quotes containing the words san, state and/or football:

Mining today is an affair of mathematics, of finance, of the latest in engineering skill. Cautious men behind polished desks in San Francisco figure out in advance the amount of metal to a cubic yard, the number of yards washed a day, the cost of each operation. They have no need of grubstakes.
Merle Colby, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)

Our object in the construction of the state is the greatest happiness of the whole, and not that of any one class.
    Plato (c. 427–347 B.C.)

In football they measure forty-yard sprints. Nobody runs forty yards in basketball. Maybe you run the ninety-four feet of the court; then you stop, not on a dime, but on Miss Liberty’s torch. In football you run over somebody’s face.
    Donald Hall (b. 1928)
