San Giorgio Canavese is a town and comune in the province of Turin in the region of Piedmont, northern Italy.
The main attraction is the castle, once a possession of the Novarese counts of Biandrate.
Near San Giorgio there is a plant of Pininfarina.
Native of this town was Giorgio Orsolano (1803-1835) one of the first italian serial killer. He raped, murdered and maybe eaten three young girls and was executed by hanging. He was also named "La Jena di San Giorgio" (The hyena of San Giorgio) and "Mangiacristiani" (cannibal).
Famous quotes containing the word san:
“Mining today is an affair of mathematics, of finance, of the latest in engineering skill. Cautious men behind polished desks in San Francisco figure out in advance the amount of metal to a cubic yard, the number of yards washed a day, the cost of each operation. They have no need of grubstakes.”
—Merle Colby, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)
