Samuel Morey - Patent "Discovery"

Patent "Discovery"

In 2004 10 of Morey's patents, including the one for the internal combustion engine, were "found" in the Dartmouth College archives. In truth, they had never really been lost; they were previously in his family's possession and many researchers had accessed them. However, they have now been scanned and available from the patent office's website.

Famous quotes containing the words patent and/or discovery:

There is a patent office at the seat of government of the universe, whose managers are as much interested in the dispersion of seeds as anybody at Washington can be, and their operations are infinitely more extensive and regular.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

The virtues of society are vices of the saint. The terror of reform is the discovery that we must cast away our virtues, or what we have always esteemed such, into the same pit that has consumed our grosser vices.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
