Salix Herbacea - Appearance

Appearance

The dwarf willow is one of the smallest woody plants in the world. It typically grows to only 1–6 cm in height and has round, shiny green leaves 1–2 cm long and broad. Like the rest of the willows, it is dioecious, with male and female catkins on separate plants. As a result, the plant's appearance varies; the female catkins are red-coloured, while the male catkins are yellow-coloured.

Famous quotes containing the word appearance:

To educate the wise man, the State exists; and with the appearance of the wise man, the State expires. The appearance of character makes the state unnecessary. The wise man is the State.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

I think I am one of those who can manage not to take on a completely different appearance under their own glance.
    Jean Rostand (1894–1977)

The President has paid dear for his White House. It has commonly cost him all his peace, and the best of his manly attributes. To preserve for a short time so conspicuous an appearance before the world, he is content to eat dust before the real masters who stand erect behind the throne.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
