Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute To Love - Film Reception

Film Reception

The film, however, garnered a tepid response from the critics. Film critic Taran Adarsh called "a disjointed script, abstract style of narrating the story and excessive length" as the film's main deficiencies. Rediff.com's Sukanya Verma called it "an ode to mediocrity, not love or cinema". However, Poonam Joshi of Channel 4 praised the film for its "clever storytelling, parody and brazen wit". The film received a 1.5-star rating from IndiaFM and a 4-star rating from Channel 4. The film was declared a flop by the Box Office India.

Famous quotes containing the words film and/or reception:

Television does not dominate or insist, as movies do. It is not sensational, but taken for granted. Insistence would destroy it, for its message is so dire that it relies on being the background drone that counters silence. For most of us, it is something turned on and off as we would the light. It is a service, not a luxury or a thing of choice.
David Thomson, U.S. film historian. America in the Dark: The Impact of Hollywood Films on American Culture, ch. 8, William Morrow (1977)

To the United States the Third World often takes the form of a black woman who has been made pregnant in a moment of passion and who shows up one day in the reception room on the forty-ninth floor threatening to make a scene. The lawyers pay the woman off; sometimes uniformed guards accompany her to the elevators.
    Lewis H. Lapham (b. 1935)
