Saint Thomas Health Services - MissionPoint

MissionPoint

In 2012 Saint Thomas Health Services started an Accountable care organization called MissionPoint Health Partners. MissionPoint currently has more than 1400 participating physicians in its network and has deployed a number of unique solutions to respond to the unique needs of the patients it serves.

While MissionPoint works with members to help them navigate their care and billing questions, MissionPoint does not determine benefit levels or pay any claims. In each instance, self-insured employers and payers design their benefits - and in some cases fee schedules - and have then directly administered by their third party administrator. Co-pay levels, co-insurance levels and out-of-pocket maximums are all determined by the employer, payor and consulting third party administrator.

Once the benefit design is articulated - MissionPoint goes to work. Whatever the benefit design, MissionPoint's Health Partners, physicians and staff work to improve patient outcomes, lower costs, and improve member satisfaction. MissionPoint only gets paid if quality outcomes increase across the population and costs decrease to a level that makes health care sustainable for future generations. This work occurs through home visits, helping patients transition from the hospital, as well as providing health coaching for its entire membership base - all at no cost to the patient or member.

There is no doubt that health care is getting more expensive and that more of the cost burden is being shared with employees. While this trend is likely to continue, MissionPoint remains committed to working with employers and members to lower their costs - whether that be through better co-pays for patients choosing a clinically integrated network or shared savings to employers supporting physicians focused on quality outcomes.
