Foreign Exchange
The college has taken part in a number of foreign exchange programmes involving schools in France and Austria. Many European students have also availed of the college, from as far away as Spain, France and Austria. Every year a selection of teachers and students head for the European ski-slopes during the holidays. The 2008 trip, when Neil Gordon led a troupe of skiiers to the United States, proved eventful, as the plane home experienced engine difficulties and had to return to Boston. The aborted flight was covered by the media.

Famous quotes containing the words foreign and/or exchange:
“If the contemplation, even of inanimate beauty, is so delightful; if it ravishes the senses, even when the fair form is foreign to us: What must be the effects of moral beauty? And what influence must it have, when it embellishes our own mind, and is the result of our own reflection and industry?”
—David Hume (17111776)
“The first place he went into was the Royal Exchange .... where men of all ages and all nations were assembled, with no other view than to barter for interest. The countenances of most of the people showed they were filled with anxiety; some indeed appeared pleased, but yet it was with a mixture of fear.... [David] resolved to stay no longer in a place where riches were esteemed goodness, and deceit, low cunning, and giving up all things to the love of gain were thought wisdom.”
—Sarah Fielding (17101768)
