Said Ali Al-Shihri - Capture

Capture

Al-Shihri was captured at the Pakistan border crossing in December 2001 near Spin Boldak. He was traveling with an Afghan driver, another Saudi man who worked with the Red Crescent, and a member from the Saudi embassy in Pakistan, in a vehicle taking supplies to a camp in Afghanistan. He was found with an injured leg incurred during the American aerial bombardment of Afghanistan. He was also allegedly carrying $1,900.

He claimed he wanted to give the money to the Red Crescent charity organization, but according to the US, he used the money to finance the travel for other fighters traveling from Bahrain to Afghanistan.

Famous quotes containing the word capture:

    To capture robbers, first capture their leader.
    Chinese proverb.

    This is no rune nor symbol,
    what I mean is it is so simple
    yet no trick of the pen or brush
    could capture that impression;
    what I wanted to indicate was
    a new phase, a new distinction of colour.
    Hilda Doolittle (1886–1961)

    Because the young child feels with such intensity, he experiences sorrows that seem inconsolable and losses that feel unbearable. A precious toy gets broken or a good-bye cannot be endured. When this happens, words like “sad” or “disappointed” seem a travesty because they cannot possibly capture the enormity of the child’s loss. He needs a loving adult presence to support him in his pain but he does not want to be talked out of it.
    Alicia F. Lieberman (20th century)
