Colours and Crest
Rye United play in red and black and use a blue and black kit as an away kit. The club use the towns coat of arms as its crest, which date back to Confederation of the Cinque Ports and is believed to date from the 13th century. The crest is very similar to the crest of Hastings United, who also use their towns coat of arms, however there is a slight variation between the two.

Famous quotes containing the words colours and, colours and/or crest:
“The sounding cataract
Haunted me like a passion: the tall rock,
The mountain, and the deep and gloomy wood,
Their colours and their forms, were then to me
An appetite: a feeling and a love,
That had no need of a remoter charm,
By thought supplied, or any interest
Unborrowed from the eye.”
—William Wordsworth (17701850)
“My faith is the grand drama of my life. Im a believer, so I sing words of God to those who have no faith. I give bird songs to those who dwell in cities and have never heard them, make rhythms for those who know only military marches or jazz, and paint colours for those who see none.”
—Olivier Messiaen (19081992)
“What shall he have that killed the deer?
His leather skin and horns to wear.
Then sing him home.
Take thou no scorn to wear the horn,
It was a crest ere thou wast born;
Thy fathers father wore it,
And thy father bore it.
The horn, the horn, the lusty horn
Is not a thing to laugh to scorn.”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
