Demographics
In the Indian census of 2001, 688 inhabitants were recorded on the island, speaking Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, and Uroan. The following settlements are reported to exist on the island:
- R. M. Point (12 people )
- Bada Khari (506 people )
- Bamboo Nallah and Kichad Nalla (108 people )
- Rutland (166 people )
As of 2001 there were 36 children enrolled in primary schools, 53 hectares of cultivated land, 237 cattle heads, 157 goats.
