Ruse Province (Bulgarian: Област Русе or Rusenska Oblast Bulgarian: Русенска област, former name Ruse okrug) is a province in northern Bulgaria, named after its main city - Ruse, neighbouring Romania via the Danube. It is divided into 8 municipalities with a total population, as of December 2009, of 249,144 inhabitants.
The Danube Bridge, the only bridge over the Danube in Bulgaria as of 2010, is located in the province. One of the versions of a folk song, inspired by the Ruse blood wedding, can be heard in the province.

Famous quotes containing the words ruse and/or province:
“So that the old joy, modest as cake, as wine and friendship
Will stay with us at the last, backed by the night
Whose ruse gave it our final meaning.”
—John Ashbery (b. 1927)
“Female Virtues are of a Domestick turn. The Family is the proper Province for Private Women to Shine in. If they must be showing their Zeal for the Publick, let it not be against those who are perhaps of the same Family, or at least of the same Religion or Nation, but against those who are the open, professed, undoubted Enemies of their Faith, Liberty, and Country.”
—Joseph Addison (16721719)
