Famous quotes containing the word death:

    We should stop looking to law to provide the final answer.... Law cannot save us from ourselves.... We have to go out and try to accomplish our goals and resolve disagreements by doing what we think is right. That energy and resourcefulness, not millions of legal cubicles, is what was great about America. Let judgment and personal conviction be important again.
    Philip K. Howard, U.S. lawyer. The Death of Common Sense: How Law Is Suffocating America, pp. 186-87, Random House (1994)

    There is a strange charm in the thoughts of a good legacy, or the hopes of an estate, which wondrously removes or at least alleviates the sorrow that men would otherwise feel for the death of friends.
    Miguel De Cervantes (1547–1616)

    The child who enters life comes not with knowledge or intent,
    So those who enter death must go as little children sent.
    Nothing is known. But I believe that God is overhead;
    And as life is to the living, so death is to the dead.
    Mary Mapes Dodge (1831–1905)
