Roy Wegerle

Roy Wegerle (born March 19, 1964 in Pretoria) is a South African-born American former professional soccer player and current professional golfer.

As a player he was a striker from 1984 until 1998. He notably played in the Premier League for Queens Park Rangers, Blackburn Rovers and Coventry City, as well as also playing in the Football League for Chelsea, Swindon Town and Luton Town. He made appearances in his native United States for Tampa Bay Rowdies, Tacoma Stars, Colorado Rapids, D.C. United and Tampa Bay Mutiny. He also played for the United States in the 1994 and 1998 World Cups. He is one of two players who played in both the NASL and MLS; the other is Hugo Sánchez.
