Location and Access

The town is located in the south midlands, 44 miles (71 km) from Limerick City and 76 miles (122 km) from Dublin City. It is at the crossroads of the M7 motorway between Dublin and Limerick and the N62 between Athlone and Horse and Jockey. The N62 joins the main M8 motorway between Dublin and Cork at Horse and Jockey.

Historically, Roscrea was noted as been on one of the ancient highways of Ireland known as the 'Slighe Dala' (meaning parliament way) which stretched from Tara in the east to the city and port of Limerick and the port of Tarbert. It is possible the route formed much of the old N7 route now the R445.

Famous quotes containing the word access:

Power, in Case’s world, meant corporate power. The zaibatsus, the multinationals ..., had ... attained a kind of immortality. You couldn’t kill a zaibatsu by assassinating a dozen key executives; there were others waiting to step up the ladder; assume the vacated position, access the vast banks of corporate memory.
    William Gibson (b. 1948)
