Release and Reception
"Rooster" was released as a single in 1993. "Rooster" peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart.
Ned Raggett of Allmusic said that the song " both the volume and the tenderness in play while tackling a slightly unexpected subject" and that it "alternates between almost dreamy verses, and surging, blasting choruses."
It was also released on the soundtrack for the feature film Terminator Salvation in 2009 and was recently used for the E3 2010 trailer for the 2012 video game, Spec Ops: The Line. The song was also used in the second season of the TV show Supernatural episode 19 "Folsom Prison Blues"

Famous quotes containing the words release and, release and/or reception:
“We read poetry because the poets, like ourselves, have been haunted by the inescapable tyranny of time and death; have suffered the pain of loss, and the more wearing, continuous pain of frustration and failure; and have had moods of unlooked-for release and peace. They have known and watched in themselves and others.”
—Elizabeth Drew (18871965)
“Come, thou long-expected Jesus,
born to set thy people free;
from our fears and sins release us,
let us find our rest in thee.”
—Charles Wesley (17071788)
“Aesthetic emotion puts man in a state favorable to the reception of erotic emotion.... Art is the accomplice of love. Take love away and there is no longer art.”
