Roof and Tunnel Hacking - Roof Hacking

Roof Hacking

Many buildings at American universities have flat roofs, whereas pitched roofs designed to shed snow or heavy rain present serious safety challenges for roof hackers. Entry points, such as trapdoors, exterior ladders, and elevators to penthouses that open onto roofs, are usually tightly secured. Roofers bypass locks (by lock picking or other methods), or use unsecured entry points to gain access to roofs. Once there, explorers may take photographs or enjoy the view; pranksters may hang banners or execute other sorts of mischief.

Famous quotes containing the words roof and/or hacking:

But whenever the roof came white
The head in the dark below
Was a shade less the color of night,
A shade more the color of snow.
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)

Experimental work provides the strongest evidence for scientific realism. This is not because we test hypotheses about entities. It is because entities that in principle cannot be ‘observed’ are manipulated to produce a new phenomena
[sic] and to investigate other aspects of nature.
    —Ian Hacking (b. 1936)
