Keating married model Yvonne Connolly in April 1998 and together, the couple have three children – Jack (born 15 March 1999), Marie (born 18 February 2001) and Ali (born 7 September 2005). Following the death of his mother Marie in 1998 of breast cancer, the family home, which Keating had bought at the age of eighteen, was sold, rendering his father Gerry homeless and resulting in a bitter feud between father and son – Gerry was not invited to his son's wedding, which took place in Nevis. The two later reconciled after two years without communication.
Keating and his wife split in late 2011 following Ronan's affair with a backing dancer after almost 14 years of marriage, and made their decision public in April 2012.
