Robert Levinson

Robert A. “Bob” Levinson (born March 10, 1948) is an American private investigator and retired FBI agent. He was taken hostage on March 9, 2007 when visiting Iran's Kish Island while researching a cigarette smuggling case, and is currently the second-longest-held hostage in American history. U.S. officials believe Levinson, kidnapped exactly two weeks before the 2007 Iranian seizure of Royal Navy personnel, "was arrested by Iranian intelligence officials to be interrogated and used as a bargaining chip in negotiations with Washington."

Famous quotes containing the word robert:

Both the man of science and the man of art live always at the edge of mystery, surrounded by it. Both, as a measure of their creation, have always had to do with the harmonization of what is new with what is familiar, with the balance between novelty and synthesis, with the struggle to make partial order in total chaos.... This cannot be an easy life.
    —J. Robert Oppenheimer (1904–1967)
