Department of Rural Roads

DORR rural roads do not follow the regional numbering scheme, above.

Signs may be black-on-white or gold-on-blue, with a two-letter province designation prefixed to the road number. Depicted is YS.4011, for a rural road in Yasothon Province. The rural road network measures some 35,000 km, about 82 percent of which is paved. The Department of Rural Roads of the Ministry of Transport takes care of the maintenance of all the rural roads in Thailand.

Famous quotes containing the words department of, department, rural and/or roads:

I believe in women; and in their right to their own best possibilities in every department of life. I believe that the methods of dress practiced among women are a marked hindrance to the realization of these possibilities, and should be scorned or persuaded out of society.
    Elizabeth Stuart Phelps (1844–1911)

All his works might well enough be embraced under the title of one of them, a good specimen brick, “On Heroes, Hero-Worship, and the Heroic in History.” Of this department he is the Chief Professor in the World’s University, and even leaves Plutarch behind.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

No, in your rural letter box
I leave this note without a stamp
To tell you it was just a tramp
Who used your pasture for a camp.
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)

Other roads do some violence to Nature, and bring the traveler to stare at her, but the river steals into the scenery it traverses without intrusion, silently creating and adorning it, and is as free to come and go as the zephyr.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
