Roads and Traffic Authority

The Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) is a former New South Wales (Australia) government agency that was responsible for major road infrastructure, licensing of drivers, and registration of motor vehicles. The RTA directly managed State roads and provided funding to local councils for regional and local roads. In addition, with assistance from the Federal Government, the RTA also previously managed the NSW national highway system. The agency was abolished in 2011.

Famous quotes containing the words roads, traffic and/or authority:

    Lift your eyes
Where the roads dip and where the roads rise
    Seek only there
Where the grey light meets the green air
The hermit’s chapel, the pilgrim’s prayer.
    —T.S. (Thomas Stearns)

    Poems stirred
    into paper coffee-cups, eaten
with petals on rye in the
    sun—the cold shadows in back,
    and the traffic grinding the
    borders of spring ...
    Denise Levertov (b. 1923)

    Rebecca West (1892–1983)
